About the Role
Question:
Can you tell us about your role as Senior Designer and what it entails?
Answer:
As a Senior Designer, my role revolves around 3D design and detailing for fabrication, ensuring that every component is accurately modeled for seamless production. I work on a variety of projects, translating engineering concepts into precise, build-ready designs. Given Aerison’s expertise in multidisciplinary engineering and advanced 3D modeling, my work integrates with a broader project environment that supports both brownfield modifications and greenfield developments. By leveraging intelligent P&ID, integrated 3D models, and real-time collaboration tools, I contribute to delivering highly accurate and efficient engineering solutions that align with our clients’ needs.
Career Journey
Question:
What’s one achievement you’re particularly proud of?
Answer:
One of my proudest achievements is the journey I’ve taken to transition from hands-on fabrication to design. I started my career as a Sheet Metal Fabricator and Welder, spending 20 years on the tools before deciding to further my skills in computer-aided design (CAD).
In my 30s, I dedicated four years to night school in the UK, learning CAD while continuing to work full-time. My hard work paid off when my employer of 16 years moved me from the shop floor into programming. When I joined Aerison, I initially worked as a CNC Programmer, but with my extensive fabrication experience, I quickly transitioned into the Drafting department. Now, 18 years later, I can confidently say it was the best move for me – I truly enjoy the work I do and the impact I have on our projects.
